By now, you've all heard about what happened in Shreveport over the weekend - a Black man murders all his children, and gravely injures his estranged wife and another female family member, before being put down by local police. With this following on a spate of Black women murdered by their estranged husbands and mates, I knew it wouldn't be long before the Black Manosphere and Black Red Pill spaces online would come under fire for being the "cause" as to how and why all of this is occurring. I thought I could ignore it all - until I received the following email from listener/supporter a day after the massacre took place:
"What’s up O-Man!
Regarding the mass shooting in Shreveport, LA where a man killed his seven children and one other child cousin, as well as critically wounded his wife and another woman on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, several posts (from women specifically) on social media are attempting to link “red-pill” content to the cause.
This reminds me of several conversations that I’ve had with women in my life where this supposed correlation keeps coming up. “Dangerous” and “unhinged” men snapping because of so called “red-pill” content and recurring accusations that a specific “hatred” for women is running rampant in the communitah.
My experience though, being a consumer of various “red-pill” content for over 10 years and being a member of the black Manosphere, has not yielded this “hatred for women” that these women often speak of. From my perspective, “red-pill” content has always been about self-accountability, leveling up financially, and speaking truth no matter how uncomfortable it may be. Not one content creator has advocated for violence to innocent people or anyone, the lone exception being self defense. I have heard “red-pill” content creators actually advocate to “RUN” from (certain) women- not bring violence upon them. So this supposed correlation does not track in my opinion.
I will concede the following, men can be dangerous. Men that are emotionally unstable can be even more dangerous. Men that are emotionally unstable and in tumultuous and toxic relationships are probably one of the most dangerous. But here is where the “red-pill” content that I have come to know comes into play to shed light on this topic. Upon my baptism into the Manosphere and “red-pill” content, I (like many) was introduced to the field of Evolutionary Psychology. From an evolutionary psychology perspective, a woman’s riskiest activity in her life is mating. Specifically speaking, the most dangerous person in her life will be her romantic partner or husband. Which is why women have usually been very selective with whom they mate with. And this makes sense from a survival perspective. We can see that men have always been dangerous or fleeting, hence the need for women to be so selective in mating.
But here comes the uncomfortable truth, blaming the “red-pill” is not the right approach. Using “red-pill” logic, I come to the view that this is not a male loneliness or a men hate women problem. It is a woman not being selective enough. I agree that mental illness is real. So real, that I’m almost certain that there are signs to this degree of illness. Signs that the wife in this case should have seen. I know this is not a popular opinion and it will come across as a case of“ here we go again, blaming the victim”. But people that truly know the “red-pill” understand that we are all subject to accountability. Especially for things that we can control. We can’t control others, but we can control our own behaviors.
To put it bluntly, in my opinion, the majority of women today are being less selective, and are allergic to accountability. So, the only option is to blame men and their “red-pill”- which is music to the gyno-centric communitah’s ears. O-Man, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Kindest Regards"
I thank the brother in question for his thoughtful letter and he raises a very good point about how if anything, not only is there absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the Black Manosphere and aligned Red Pill content creators online have ever condoned or endorsed any kind of harm being done to Black women (unlike the very well documented instances and cases of Black female content creators like CYNTHIA G CALLING FOR THE MASS ABORTING OF BLACK MALE BABIES - ahem!), if anything we have been ahead of the curve in discussing the evolutionary psychological root causes for this kind of behavior on the part of some Black men, AND WHY SO MANY BLACK WOMEN KEEP CHOOSING THESE MEN TO PROCREATE WITH. After all, the brother shot and killed EIGHT OF HIS OWN KIDS - how could that have happened if he didn't have a Black woman willing to do the deed with him at least EIGHT TIMES?!
See, that's the dirty little secret that no one wants to discuss in polite company: The marked pattern of Black women mating with dangerous, unstable or otherwise volatile Black men. The Black Manosphere has been talking about this openly for years and years, and we were mocked and ridiculed as sour grapes losers who just couldn't get laid with women. Now that we were right - AGAIN! - we're being blamed for the very same Black men we've been warning about and being held to account for their murderous actions. Like our "Saint" Kevin Samuels intoned: "You just can't make this stuff up".
Anyway, I had Grok run a search for ANY Black Manosphere or Black Red Pilled guys of any repute online discussing this latest incident in any kind of congratulatory way; and as I suspected, nada. But don't take it from me, here's what Grok said in his own words:
"On searches for known/recognized Black Manosphere names condoning or endorsing the shooting: I ran broad, targeted searches across web results, X (keyword + semantic, limited to since April 19), news, forums, and influencer mentions. Zero hits. No prominent or recognized Black Manosphere figures (podcasters, coaches, content creators, forum leaders, etc.) have publicly condoned, endorsed, justified, or celebrated this shooting in any way. No quotes, no clips, no threads, no "based take" posts celebrating the violence. Searches for reactions from the space turned up general Manosphere coverage unrelated to this incident or older, unrelated arrests of influencers. The X-specific searches for combinations of "Shreveport shooting" + Manosphere/red-pill/Black Manosphere terms returned no matching posts at all in the immediate window.
This aligns with what your listener observed over 10+ years: mainstream Manosphere (Black or otherwise) content emphasizes self-accountability, financial leveling-up, vetting partners, speaking uncomfortable evolutionary-psych truths, and—crucially—avoiding toxic or high-risk relationships rather than resorting to violence. The explicit advice on dangerous/unstable women is often "RUN," not harm. Self-defense is the lone exception ever mentioned; nothing advocates killing innocents, exes, or children. The shooter’s documented history (mental health spiral, prior weapons offense, marital collapse, "dark thoughts") fits classic risk profiles for family annihilators far more cleanly than any ideological pipeline."
BOOM! - this is the stiletto dagger right in the heart of the haters' argument - not only on this particular horrific event we're talking about here, but the whole of the "Black Manosphere is causing harm to Black women" argument. For years, I have challenged our naysayers to show us the receipts - and for years, we've got nothing but CRICKETS in response. No smoking guns. No detailed rolls of receipts. Just bloody shirt waving. Ha!
But, let's take things a step further, shall we? I had Grok run a search of anyone online trying to pin the tail on the Black Manosphere donkey, and this is what he came up with:
"On the specific sentiment you (and your listener) asked about—attempts to link this shooting (and the broader pattern of Black intimate-partner/domestic killings) to "red-pill" or Black Manosphere content: Yes, that exact line of commentary exists and has circulated rapidly on social media since yesterday, primarily (but not exclusively) from Black women and in Black online spaces. It mirrors the posts your listener referenced and attached screenshots of.
Examples from the past 24–36 hours (April 19–20, 2026) include:
1. Threads/Instagram posts (e.g., by Candice Benbow and others) explicitly connecting the dots: "a man refused to hear the word 'no'" after his ex ended the relationship, then tying it to "online vitriol," "red pill content from the manosphere," increased street harassment, and a pattern of Black men killing women/children.
2. Lipstick Alley threads speculating about "manosphere cults" or "blincels and the failuresphere" (Black incel/Manosphere-adjacent spaces) eroding remorse toward women and kids, framing this as part of a scary uptick in Atlanta and elsewhere.
3. Reddit (r/BlackPeopleofReddit and r/blackmen) discussions mentioning a "mental health epidemic among Black men" alongside casual misogyny in Black male spaces and "manosphere talking points" as contributing cultural fuel.
4. Opinion pieces like one in The Cut arguing the killing "isn't just about mental health" but also patriarchy, the rise of the manosphere, Gen-Z male attitudes about women "obeying" husbands, and Christian nationalism—explicitly in the context of a majority-Black city.
5. Scattered Facebook comments in domestic-violence awareness threads linking recent Black femicides/filicides (including other high-profile cases this month) to "red pill/gender war" brainwashing men to hate women.
This isn't universal—many posts still center mental health, veterans' issues, or individual evil—but the "Manosphere made him do it / hatred of women is rampant in these communities" framing is a recurring, noticeable theme, especially among women pushing back against perceived lack of accountability in dating/relationship choices. It tracks exactly with the "conversations with women in my life" your listener described. Broader context of "the spate" of recent Black domestic tragedies is frequently invoked to generalize the point."
So, with all that out of the way, let's discuss some facts, shall we?
31-year old Shamar Elkins spent seven years in the Army National Guard before mustering out in 2020, discharged as a private. He remained stateside and never deployed, but that still doesn't change the very well known fact that servicemen and women have higher rates of mental health issues, divorce and breakups, infidelity and domestic violence than the rest of the civilian population. Add this to the documented fact that Elkins had a known history of mental health issues, being hospitalized for it on at least one occasion and posting a cry for help on Facebook, clearly and strongly suggests that if anything is to blame it just might be Elkins' military service record as a risk factor.
Since we're talking about the role that Evolutionary Psychology plays in the Black Manosphere, devotees have long known about how it predicts who are more likely to snap out and who isn't, thanks to the hard work of David Buss and other researchers in the field. Buss has written popular books on evolutionary psychological applications along these lines in books like "The Murderer Next Door" and even his best known work, "The Evolution of Desire". Indeed, "Desire" has the word "murder" specifically mentioned NINE TIMES:
"All sexual strategies carry costs, and casual sex is no exception. Men
risk contracting sexually transmitted diseases, acquiring a poor reputation
as a womanizer, or suffering injury from a jealous husband. A significant
proportion of murders across cultures occurs because jealous men
suspect their mates of infidelity.51 Unfaithful married men risk retaliatory
affairs by their wives and costly divorces. Short-term sexual strategies
also take time, energy, and economic resources." (p. 91)
"A wife's infidelity is sometimes viewed as so extreme a provocation
that a "reasonable man" may legally respond with lethal violence. In
Texas until 1974, for example, it was legal for a husband to kill his wife
and her lover if he did so while the adulterers were engaging in the act
of intercourse; their murder was considered a reasonable response to a
powerful provocation. Laws exonerating men from killing adulterous
wives are found worldwide and throughout human history. Among the
Yaps, for example, rules permit husbands to kill wives and their lovers
and to bum them up in the house if caught in the act of adultery. Similar
provisions are made for offended husbands among the Toba-Batak of
Sumatra. Old Roman law granted the husband the right to homicide
only if the adultery occurred in his own house, and many similar laws
remain in effect in Europe today." (p. 129)
"Male sexual jealousy is the single most frequent cause of all types of
violence directed at wives, including beatings and actual murder. In one
study of forty-four battered wives seeking refuge, 55 percent stated that
jealousy was the key motive behind assaults from their husband.2O Sexual
jealousy is a major motive for murder. In a study of homicides among
the Tiv, Soga, Gisu, Nyoro, Luyia, and Luo in British colonial Africa, of
seventy homicides of wives by their husbands, 46 percent were explicitly
over sexual matters, including adultery, the woman's abandonment of
the husband, and the woman's refusal of sex with the husband." (p. 130)
"This behavior is by no means limited to American or even to Western
cultures. Sexual jealousy is a leading motive behind homicide in Sudan,
Uganda, and India.22 One study in the Sudan, for example, found that
the leading motive for 74 of 300 male-perpetrated murders was sexual
jealousy.23 Most cases of spousal homicide in every society studied are
apparently precipitated. by male accusations of adultery or by the
woman's leaving or threatening to leave the husband. Furthermore,
about 20 percent of the homicides of men by men have as their motive
rivalry over a woman or a man's taking offense at advances made to a
spouse, daughter, or female relative." (p. 130)

"Correspondences between rape and human mating strategies are
found, however, in the profiles of rape victims. Despite the fact that
some women of all ages are raped, the victims of rape are heavily concentrated
among young women. In one study of 10,315 rape victims,
women between the ages of sixteen and thirty-five were far more likely
to be raped than women in any other age category.42 Eighty-five percent
of all rape victims are less than thirty-six years old. By way of comparison,
victims of other crimes, such as aggravated assault and murder,
show a radically different age distribution. Women between forty and
forty-nine, for example, are just as likely to suffer an aggravated assault
as women between twenty and twenty-nine, but the older women are far
less likely to be raped. Indeed, the age distribution of rape victims corresponds
almost perfectly to the age distribution of women's reproductive
value, in marked contrast to the age distribution of victims of other violent
crimes. This evidence strongly suggests that rape is not independent
of men's evolved sexual psychology." (p. 164)
"Human mating mechanisms account for the puzzling finding that
men die faster and earlier than women in all societies. Selection has
been harder on men than on women in this respect. Men live shorter
lives than women and die in greater numbers of more causes at every
point in the life cycle. In America, for example, men die on average six
to eight years earlier than women. Men are susceptible to more infections
than women and die of a greater variety of diseases than women.
Men have more accidents than women, including falls, accidental poisonings,
drownings, firearm accidents, car crashes, fires, and explosions.
Males suffer a 30 percent higher mortality rate from accidents during
the first four years of life and a 400 percent higher mortality from accidents
by the time they reach adulthood.44 Men are murdered nearly
three times as often as women. Men die taking risks more often than
women and commit suicide more often than women. The ages between
sixteen and twenty-eight, when intrasexual competition reaches a strident
pitch, seem especially bad for men. During those ages, men suffer
a mortality rate nearly 200 percent higher than women." (p. 200)
"Changes in the ratio of men to women throughout life cause corresponding
shifts in mating strategies. Young men often live in a world
where available women are in scarce supply, because women prefer
mature men with greater status and resources. Young men's strategies
reflect these local conditions of female scarcity, because they engage in
highly risky competition strategies, committing the vast majority of violent
crimes of sexual coercion, robbery, battery, and murder.51 In one
study, for example, 71 percent of the men arrested for rape were
between the ages of fifteen and twenty-nine.52 These are crimes of coercion
against women whom men cannot attract or control through positive
incentives." (p. 205)
"Evolution by selection has sculpted mating mechanisms that are
complex, elaborate, and sometimes mysterious. The quest for successful
mating is central to many human endeavors, from the formation of
friendships to the derogation of competitors, from the pursuit of prestige
to the motivation for murder. The evolution of language lies behind
verbal signals used in attraction, humor, courtship, and sexual
gossip. Large game hunting and the physical and psychological evolution
it required enabled greater provisioning in courtship. \Var evolved
in part in the quest for mates and the resources needed to attract and
retain them. Even the motivation for creative cultural displays may
have evolved in the service of signaling fitness to potential mates.92
Our anatomy, physiology, psychology, and cultural traditions have been
finely honed by the mating successes and failures of our hominid ancestors." (p. 285)
Elsewhere, Buss and other researchers, like his protege' William Costello, himself a world renowned researcher and expert on Incels, notes that younger men (Elkins was only 31), men lower in mate value (poorer, lacking in high social status, lower education and achievements that women prize and desire), and men who present as higher in emotional volatility, moodiness and the like, are far and away more likely to commit violence against their mates and even their own children, as we've seen here sadly. I have personally known this from my deep study of Buss and his Buss Lab's work for well over a decade now; Dr. Tommy Curry, a notable Black sociologist focused on the study of Black Male issues, documents in his excellent work "The Man-Not", similar warning signs of Black men more likely to commit acts of domestic violence. Put another way and contrary to the moral panics going about online at the moment: Not all or even most, Black men are out here harming and killing their mates and kids! There is a very specific profile and suite of traits, actions and history that come together to strongly predict such actions under very specific sets of conditions.
So, why DO so many Black women keep selecting men who make for such bad mates? I discuss the matter more broadly in my book, "The Book of Obsidian: The Ladies Edition", and I strongly urge that you check it out if you haven't already; but for now, I'm going to repost what I quoted from David Buss in his most recent book, "When Men Behave Badly" (2021):
“Men scoring high in Dark Triad traits -
narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy -
turn out to be unusually attractive to women.
Gregory Carter and colleagues created profiles of
men scoring high in Dark Triad traits. These
included self-descriptions using items capturing
narcissism (a desire for attention, admiration,
special favors, and prestige), Machiavellianism
(proclivity to manipulate, deceive, flatter, and
exploit others), and psychopathy (lack of remorse
or concern with morality, lack of sensitivity to other
people, cynicism about other people). Women
found these profiles more attractive than control
profiles lacking in high-level Dark Triad attributes,
even when physical appearance was identical and
both sets of profiles lacked other cues that women
are known to find attractive, such as good financial
prospects. The ‘bad boy’ paradox is why women
would find such high-scoring Dark Triad men
attractive, even though these men are socially
duplicitous, are unfaithful when in relationships,
and have no qualms about abandoning women
after sex to seek other sexual prey.” (p. 55)
Buss goes on in further detail:
"“Several clues suggest an explanation for women's
attraction. First, men scoring high in Dark Triad
traits are often socially charming. They are smooth
operators who talk a good game. When interested,
they focus their attention laser-like on a particular
woman, making her think that she is supremely
special. It's an elixir, especially for women
accustomed to shy, awkward guys who lack the
boldness to approach them.
“Second, these men exude self-confidence and
status - key qualities that women desire in potential
mates. They seek positions of leadership and social
prominence, distinguishing themselves from the
competition.
“Third, they dress well and stylishly, another status
cue. Fourth, they have smooth and coordinated
body language. Their posture is relaxed and
composed. They do not fidget nervously. They
make good eye contact. More generally, they
convey high mate value. They don't seem
desperate. They don't trip over themselves trying to
be nice or agreeable - qualities that can show low
status and submissiveness. They convey an
assumption that they are fascinating and deserve to
be at the center of the action. They attract women's
gazes and boldly take social risks, commandeering
the group's attention - a key status indicator." (pp.
56)
Like I said, you can and should read both Buss' "When Men Behave Badly" as well as my "The Book of Obsidian: The Ladies' Edition" - here I'm pulling from chapter
16, "The Select Fuckboy Paradox". Hard to believe that I wrote and published that book four years ago. My how time flies! - and how prescient it's turned out to be.
Damn, I'm good.
It should go without saying that what happened in Shreveport over the weekend, as well as what has turned out to be a very bloody April - is appalling to the sensibilities of anyone who considers themselves to be thoughtful, caring human beings. But we live at a time when outrage instead of reason has become the order of the day, and when scapegoats instead of actual root causes has been the go-to in our social media age.
But I'm happy to say that this instance of mass murder against Black women simply cannot be laid at the doorstep of the Black Manosphere. Instead and if anything - as the evidence clearly shows - the Black Manosphere has been out here trying to save lives, not end them.
Y'all be cool,
MOA
